I like this primer better than the ELF Power Grip, and the ELF is really good so that’s saying something.
I received a NYX Plump Right Back Primer + Serum ($14) sample as a free gift with purchase from Ulta beauty, and I was happy to try it because it was already in my favorites to purchase.
Grippy primers with the gel texture are really popular right now, the most popular from the drugstore being the ELF Power Grip Primers.
I really like the ELF Power Grip Primers and the one with Niacinamide, so I wanted to use this product to compare it to that one.
TL:DR (Too Long Didn’t Read) on the NYX Plump Right Back Primer + Serum:
- It’s a smooth primer on the skin
- It has a grippy texture that helps your makeup last for a long time
- I like it even more than the elf power grip primers
NYX Plump Right Back Primer + Serum Product Review:
This NYX primer is really good and it’s better than the ELF Power Grip Primer in my opinion because it has that serum quality to it.
The formula includes hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, pro-vitamin B5, magnesium, and potassium.
That’s kind of unique for drugstore formulas that tend to dupe other products, but leave out a lot of the benefits from the original.
I wouldn’t consider the NYX Plump Right Back a dupe for the ELF or MILK Makeup Hydro Grip but it’s a good alternative for those who have dry skin or like hydration in their primer step.
Plump Right Back has a grippy lightweight texture that helps your makeup stay on for longer and the serum benefits make it a little bit smoother and a little less tacky than the ELF Power Grip Primer.
On application the primer gives your skin a hydrated glowy look, but I didn’t find it to stay that way.
Once I applied foundation, it didn’t make my skin look oily or greasy by the end of the day.
Is the NYX Plump Right Back Primer + Serum worth it?
Yes, I really like this primer.
It definitely smooths out pores, adds some awesome serum ingredients (see above) and helps your makeup lasts for a long time.
