NYX Bare With Me Blur Tint Soft Matte Foundation Review (Shades 19 + 20)

NYX Bare With Me Blur Tint Soft Matte Foundation Review

I think NYX just added the word “tint” because its trending.

The NYX Bare With Me Blur Tint Soft Matte Foundation ($14) feels out of place in the current beauty landscape.

It feels like a full coverage foundation from the 2016 beauty guru era.

Also, the shades are odd to me.

I purchased one shade (from Ulta Beauty), and it wasn’t right (shade 20 – too red for me) and then I purchased another shade (shade 19 – too pigmented) and then I gave up.

I just don’t have a shade.

TL:DR (Too Long Didn’t Read) on the NYX Bare With Me Blur Tint Soft Matte Foundation:

  • It’s mattifying
  • Long wearing  (10+ hours before starting to fade)
  • Can look dry on the skin
  • Looks like full coverage
  • Doesn’t look even (when using a small amount)

NYX Bare With Me Blur Tint Soft Matte Foundation Product Review:

The NYX Bare With Me Blur Foundation kind of brings me back to how it used to be years ago, where foundations were so matte and so opaque in color that it was very hard to find a match.

See swatch pictures above, there’s a huge difference between shade 19 and 20.

The product itself is mattifying and blurring (as advertised) but very opaque.

Considering I have deep, but a neutral/golden undertone, I thought shade 19 was a great match.

BUT, because the foundation is so full coverage, it looks like a mask.

A full coverage matte face is not the vibe anymore…at least not for me.

Even for the beauties who want full coverage to cover imperfections, acne, etc. (me included) have been opting for medium but buildable coverages that are less harsh.

It also dries FAST, a la NARS Soft Matte Foundation (which it may be trying to dupe).

This makes it very difficult to apply in small amounts and blend out (for less coverage).

The result looks a little uneven and patchy. Ugh.

Is the NYX Bare With Me Blur Foundation worth it?

No, it’s too matte, dries too fast, and looks too mask-y (is that a word? Lol).

It feels like NYX tried to dupe the NARS Soft Matte Foundation by taking one of their old formulas and rebranding it with the word “tint” added.

I still love NYX Cosmetics but this one is a No, don’t waste your money.
